US Federal Air Marshals have an ever expanding role in homeland security and work closely with other law enforcement agencies to accomplish their mission. The Federal Air Marshal Service promotes confidence in the nation’s civil aviation system through the effective deployment of Federal Air Marshals to detect, deter, and defeat hostile acts targeting U.S. air carriers, airports, passengers, and crews. Although tactical and law enforcement skills are paramount, passenger screening and behavioral recognition skills can prevent a potential terrorist act before it happens. No one is closer to the nation’s last line of defense than US Air Marshals when it comes to defending the US aviation industry which serves as a cornerstone to the US economy.
